Values & Ethics

The principles that guide everything we do.

At Trace Enterprises, our values are not a wall display — they are the standard we hold ourselves to on every project, with every client, in every environment we work in. Five principles that guide how we operate, how we engage and how we measure success.

Trace Enterprises Code of Ethics

Trace Enterprises operates across three disciplines — heritage, environmental and planning — and serves two distinct groups of clients whose interests we take equally seriously. Our Code of Ethics reflects that breadth and that responsibility.

We work with integrity. We give honest, independent advice — even when it is not what a client wants to hear. We do not compromise the accuracy of our assessments or the quality of our reports to serve a commercial outcome. Our clients trust us because our advice is credible, and that credibility is worth more than any individual project.

We respect country and culture. We acknowledge the deep connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold with their country, and we conduct all heritage and environmental work with the respect, sensitivity and cultural awareness that connection demands. We work alongside Aboriginal communities, not over them. We protect sensitive cultural information. We support Traditional Owners in exercising their rights.

We protect the environment. We approach every environmental assessment with a genuine commitment to understanding and protecting the ecological values at stake — not merely satisfying the minimum requirements of the regulatory framework. We advocate for sound environmental outcomes and provide advice that balances development viability with long-term ecological responsibility.

We deliver what we promise. We commit to realistic timeframes, communicate proactively when circumstances change and take full accountability for the quality of our work. We do not overpromise. When we take on a project, we deliver it.

We operate safely. No project outcome, commercial pressure or deadline justifies compromising the safety of our people, our clients or the communities we work in. We maintain the highest standards of field safety across all three divisions and in all environments — remote or otherwise.

We uphold professional standards. Our heritage team operates in accordance with the professional standards of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists Inc. (AACAI) and Australia ICOMOS. Our environmental team operates in accordance with the standards of the relevant environmental professional bodies. Our planning team operates in accordance with the Planning Institute of Australia's code of professional conduct. We invest in the ongoing development of our people to ensure our practice remains current, rigorous and fit for purpose.

We build for the future. Trace Enterprises is growing — across disciplines, across geography and across the scope of what a multidisciplinary consulting firm can do. We are building a firm that will serve Aboriginal communities, developers, miners and governments across every state and territory in Australia, to the same standard of excellence that has defined our work in WA. Our Code of Ethics is the foundation that growth is built on.
