Built on field experience across WA and the NT.

Trace Enterprises is a Western Australian owned consulting firm built on a simple but powerful idea: that heritage, environmental and planning expertise should sit under one roof, not spread across multiple firms. That idea has driven everything since our founding, and it remains the core of what we offer today.
‍
Founded by archaeologist and anthropologist Joshua Davis, Trace began as Trace Archaeology, a specialist Aboriginal and historic heritage consultancy serving the mining, development and government sectors of WA. As our reputation grew and our clients' needs became more complex, we built Trace Ecology alongside it, bringing botanical, zoological, ecological, marine and freshwater expertise in-house. Trace Planning followed, adding town planning, statutory approvals and subdivision expertise to complete the picture. Today, Trace Enterprises comprises three specialist divisions operating under one leadership team, one quality system and one shared commitment to delivering outcomes that stand up.
‍
We are based in Osborne Park, Perth, and we operate across Western Australia, the Northern Territory and beyond. Our work spans some of Australia's most ecologically and culturally significant environments, from the ancient landscapes of the Pilbara and Kimberley to the biodiverse southwest, the arid interior and the tropical north. We have built long-standing relationships with Aboriginal Corporations and Traditional Owner groups across WA and the NT, and with the developers, miners, exploration companies, infrastructure builders and government agencies that operate alongside them. Working with both sides is how Trace differs from single-discipline firms.

Our Team

Our team comprises archaeologists, anthropologists, osteologists, botanists, zoologists, ecologists, marine biologists, freshwater biologists and town planners. Each is a specialist in their discipline, and each is committed to delivering work that is thorough, defensible and practically useful. We hold the field certifications and professional memberships our work requires, including AACAI membership for our heritage team, and we apply the same safety, scientific and ethical standards on every project.

We are a WALGA preferred supplier, independently assessed for local government work across Western Australia. We are growing, and we intend to be operating in every state and territory in Australia.

Trace Enterprises. Protecting country. Enabling progress.
